The Wife Who Questions Her Worth

When you are not feeling loved or appreciated, you may question your worth. I have been married for 18 years, and the majority of those years have been very difficult. When things got tough, I was tempted to feel a lack of self-worth as a wife.

For many years, I simply tried harder to do better. Since I grew up feeling valued for my performance, this transferred over to my marriage. The more efforts I made, the less conflict seemed to erupt. However, I could never completely control the climate of our challenging marriage, and I was exhausted from all the efforts.

By studying God’s Word, I found freedom from my pursuit of perfection. I still need to keep up with my responsibilities as a wife. But fear no longer drives my efforts. I have found the security I need in the presence of Jesus.
