Are you seeking God’s green hope today? Today, I tell about my regular search for green hope in my devotion at Encouragement for Today. If you are joining me for the first time from Proverbs 31 Ministries’ links, welcome!
I have a free printable of Bible verses to help you seek God’s green hope, and a book giveaway too! But first, I want to share photos of what inspired this devotion for Proverbs 31 Ministries.
Seeking God’s Green Hope
As I mentioned in the devotion, I struggle with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a form of depression that occurs during the winter months. I’ve written several other popular posts on how I handle SAD without medication, and I’m linking them here for your further reflection:

Now, I want to take you on a virtual walk in my Missouri woods, where my dog Memphis and I go seeking God’s green hope.
I took these photos on a comfortably sunny winter day, unlike this frigid current week in southeast Missouri. So glad I didn’t procrastinate!
My handsome, sweet-natured mama’s boy Memphis, a yellow Dudley lab who just turned 2 years old in January.
Memphis knows the way well. He walks me more than I walk him!
Seems like we always need to stop to sniff something interesting. That’s why I refer to these walks as sniffcapades!
Now we’re getting close!
Yes, this is the right white oak (Quercus alba) tree we know so well.
Almost there!
Hallelujah! The ferns are still here! Physical proof of God’s green hope, even in the dead of winter.
Finally, the white oak raises its branches in praise to its Creator, and it lifts my spirits too.
These walks in my woods remind me to keep seeking God’s green hope everywhere, every day. I love this Message translation of Romans 15:13 that keeps me focused on hope:
May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! Romans 15:13 MSG
