Saturday Sips April 2022 is a short recollection of what I’ve learned this month. I’m following a format known as Share Four Somethings, and I hope it inspires your own reflections on what you’ve learned this April.
Something Loved
Our new chocolate lab puppy Dallas is a delight to us! We got him from central Illinois. He is a happy-go-lucky little guy, and our 3-year-old Memphis, who is a Dudley lab, is finally starting to enjoy his company. He is technically an early graduation present for my oldest son, but he’s a joy for all of us! Catch a glimpse of him here.
I’m also loving the beauty of spring in my beloved southeast Missouri. You can see the latest flowers blooming in my garden and woods here.
Something Gleaned
I learned a new truth about persistent prayer from The Place We Find Ourselves podcast, and I turned it into a devotion this week. You can read the full devotion HERE, and I hope it inspires your prayer life like it has for me.
Something Braved or Saved
I’m starting another new prayer practice based on Pastor Andrew Brunson’s testimony. It’s something I saved from this post, and it’s also something brave because I am self-conscious about dancing. But his testimony rooted in Matt. 5:11-12 is so powerful in the face of persecution, which I’m facing now myself, so I am glad to be a fool for God by practicing this new act of prayer and worship.
Something Achieved
This was the first Easter after my divorce. I felt a sense of triumph that I got to see all three of my children that day, because I am a safe and trustworthy loved one for them. I enjoyed two different church services and did not let the enemy get the upper hand.
At two key times that day, I requested prayer from my tribe because I feared severe spiritual attacks to my faith. Both my counselor and Stephen Minister are amazed at the fact my faith is 100 percent intact and I’m standing firm, despite the temptations toward discouragement and doubt.
I covet your prayers on one specific issue: Pray that an ungodly relationship will be permanently severed between my ex and the wicked woman who set her sights on him while we were still married. They are shacking up in a house trailer he owns that is adjacent to my property. This is a daily trauma trigger for me. I hope by the next time I have a Saturday Sips ready for you in May, God will answer this prayer in the affirmative!
