Redeem Me With Purpose is an unedited prayer-poem I wrote in just five minutes. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.
Today’s post is based on the prompt for Five Minute Friday, written from 7:00 a.m. to 7:05 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2021. Today’s prompt is “Redeem,” and here is my prayer/poem.
Redeem Me With Purpose
Father God,
Redeem me with purpose
this day
buying me back
from the sin
that has enmeshed me.
When I’m free
from the shackles
of its grip
may I repent
to honor you
and humbly offer
my story
to help others
find hope
for their redemption.
I thank you
for buying me back
so many times
from enslavement
to overindulgence
codependency
criticism of others
criticism of myself
sin
after
sin
after
sin.
What a wonder
that you would redeem me
at all, then even more
amazing
you would refit me
for new purposes.
As I reflect on the ways
you have redeemed me before
give me hope
for the struggles
in which I remain.
I may be situated here
for a while
but not stuck
trapped
or hopeless.
I can choose to fix my eyes
on the bright future
you promise
if I persevere
for your glory.
For the situations
where you choose
to grow my character
while I wait for you
to redeem me from them
give me glimpses
of your purposes now
and your purposes to come.
