Do you know that your creative gifts can help you praise God?
We are made in the image of God, who is the Creator of all things. We all have creative gifts that can move us to praise him and reflect his glory to others.
Exercising our Creative Gifts
God gifted me with creativity from a young age. As a three-year-old, I used a purple marker to outline the beautiful butterflies on one family member’s designer bed sheets. This was before Crayola was manufacturing washable markers, so you can imagine that this creative act was not truly appreciated at the time.
I have a photographic memory, and I actually remember filling in those butterflies. They were so beautiful, I couldn’t help but “add” to their glory. When I pick up a paintbrush now, I’m also adding to the glory and beauty God has lavishly shared in our world.
My spirit lifts when I exercise my creative gifts. Whether I’m playing hymns on my flute, reorganizing perennial flowers in my garden, or decorating butter cookies at Christmas, I’m reflecting God’s creative power. These quiet moments of creativity raise my thoughts toward him, and they move my heart to praise.
God also blessed you with creative gifts which you can use to praise him. Today I’m honored to post at Devotable, where I explain ways you can praise God with your creative gifts. Here’s a peek at my post, and I hope you’ll head over to read the rest.
Let All That I Am Praise the Lord
What creative activity do you enjoy most?
Some of you are saying, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.” But I’m sure that’s not true, because you are made in God’s image, and He is a creator. That means you have been created to create.
Maybe your creative activity is an artistic pursuit like sewing, drawing, or scrap-booking.
Perhaps it’s a practical art like cooking, woodworking, or interior design.
Maybe it flies under the radar, like creative organization, working with numbers, or even activities with children.
Whatever creative activity you prefer, you can use it to praise God…
