What to Do While You Wait
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 NLT
Everyone is waiting on something today. Election results. Test results. A prodigal’s return. A relationship to be healed. A sickness to turn toward health.
Waiting is not what we like to do. In our fast-paced society, waiting makes us feel nervous, frustrated, angry and scared. It tempts us to become the worst versions of ourselves.
If we don’t wait well, we can become distant from God…

Do you want to pray for others in a powerful way? We have a great model to follow in Colossians 1:9-14 NIV.
Yesterday I had a phone call from a friend who needed a prayer of encouragement right then and there. I wanted to base this prayer on Scripture, so I said, “Let’s see what the verse of the day is at biblegateway.com.” A verse from Colossians 1 came up, and I looked at it in context. There I found this wonderful prayer, which I prayed over her via phone.
You can pray this powerful prayer for others too, speaking it over them live or in private.
I lead you on a guided meditation of these verses HERE at Woman 2 Woman Ministries.

I have zero athletic ability. Always picked dead last for kickball in elementary school. My most dreaded class was P. E., where I also got my worst grade. While most kids loved playing sports, I only enjoyed watching them.
As an adult, I’m still self-conscious about doing anything athletic in front of others. I don’t want to get made fun of as I did when I was young. Other than walking outdoors, I exercise in private. No one can tell me I’m not good enough for the team there.
But don’t tell that to my dog Memphis. A Labrador retriever, he has an innate desire to play fetch several times every day. He doesn’t care how terrible my aim is, nor how wonky my throws can be. He gives me his biggest doggie smile every time we play.
If you came to my house and inspected it closely, you would find a few dents in the soffit where I’ve truly biffed my throws. Proof of my pathetic athletic ability. And yet, Memphis revels in delight every time I toss his Kong toys. Bonus – Kongs are known to bounce in unexpected directions. When I make a skewed throw, the Kong may zigzag back into the path I intended. Memphis is none the wiser and just as happy.
In the past I had a defeated attitude about serving in God’s kingdom. I criticized my lack of abilities and wanted to hide from others, rather than offering what I was able to give. I didn’t think what I had to offer was good enough, so I sat in the shadows, offering nothing.
One of the most freeing statements I read in the popular book The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? is this: “God expects you to do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are. Less-than-perfect service is always better than the best intention.” And, “It doesn’t have to be perfect for God to use and bless it.”
As a recovering perfectionist, I need reminders that my offerings in God’s kingdom don’t need to be airbrushed to perfection. Good enough is giving out of my best, all things being considered. Those things include the season I’m in, the energy level I have, the time that’s available, and the natural talent (or lack thereof) I can offer.
It makes practical sense to offer in the ways where I’m most gifted, where I’ve been given spiritual gifts. Yet I need to stop criticizing myself for not offering “perfect” gifts, and see God smiling on my good enough offerings.
The Church needs more helpers, not less, in the great harvest of souls. None of us are perfectly qualified. But all of us are good enough when we let the Holy Spirit work through us and stop relying on our own abilities.
Do you also need to let go of the desire for perfection in serving God’s kingdom? Settle into the idea of good enough. Trust in the Holy Spirit to work through you. Finally, look up to see God smiling at you. He really is happy with whatever you offer him!
Good Enough: Whatever you're willing to offer in God's kingdom, he's willing to use. Perfection not required. #inspiration #christianliving #devotion Click To TweetChoosing Gratitude in a Difficult Season
This year has been a year of losses for many. Lost loved ones, jobs, and health. Lost opportunities to gather, celebrate, and worship. Loss of traditions, belief in institutions, and trust.
God knows our losses. He has been close to you when you suffered, whether you felt it or not. He collected every one of your tears in 2020 (Psalm 56:8) because you are precious to him.
