How to Hold Life Loosely
Those who weep or who rejoice or who buy things should not be absorbed by their weeping or their joy or their possessions. Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.
1 Corinthians 7:30-31 NLT
Are you holding onto life a little too tightly?
This passage stood out to me in this week’s BSF lesson. In this chapter on marriage, the apostle Paul writes about our need to hold life loosely, rather than holding on too tightly.
I have to admit, I often hold onto life too tightly. I’m a serious person by nature, and I’m also a highly sensitive person. Leaning toward seriousness and sensitivity makes it hard for me to let go.
In my current season of parenting teens, I’m learning to hold life a little more loosely every day.

Have you ever felt hopeless about your marriage? That it’s just not worth holding onto any longer?
I have been at the end of that rope too many times to count in the past 20 years. My close friends have said that my husband and I have heavy-duty relationship issues compared to most other couples. It doesn’t help that he and I both come from divorced families and didn’t learn the right lessons from our parents.
Feeling like giving up is all too common in our throwaway culture. It can be a strong temptation when things go south in our marriages. But in almost all cases, it’s not the right option…

The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
Isaiah 58:11 NLT
Spring has arrived where I live–hooray! I’m overjoyed to see the daffodils in bloom and hear the birds singing when I take a walk on a sunny afternoon.
Spring means it’s time to put away the winter decor and bring out the bunnies and chicks. It’s time to do some more dusting, wiping, sweeping and scouring in my home. The newness of spring reminds me to do some spring-cleaning in my faith too.
Here are four tips to help you renew your faith this spring, so your heart will be a well-watered garden for God’s glory…keep reading at Woman 2 Woman Ministries HERE.
Why You Need to Share Your Story
I’m a keeper. Paper is my downfall. Just ask my husband, who would prefer our house to be neater than military barracks. But keeping things makes me happy, and he has learned to tolerate my keeping habit after 20 years together.
Since I keep so many things, I’ve often thought about what I would grab first if our house was burning down. I’ve decided that my collection of journals, dating back to when I was 10 years old, will fly out the second-story window before I do. They are most precious to me, not because I love reading my own words. Their worth lies in the redemptive story God was writing, one journal at a time…
I’m honored to be a new guest post writer for Kingdom Edge Magazine, currently only on Facebook. Check out my March post for them HERE.
Whether you keep a journal or not, you have a story to share with the world. #shareyourstory #inspirational #hopefilled #amwriting Click To TweetHow to Put God First in the Morning
When I heard Jesus say to my heart I must love God above everything else, I considered how I put God first in my life.
Years ago I read a little booklet called My Heart, Christ’s Home. The book paints a picture of Jesus being present in every room of my home, waiting to visit with me. Waiting to show me love, offer encouragement, and correct my waywardness.
The idea of Jesus sitting at the kitchen table in the mornings, waiting for me before I began my day, inspired me…

Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
