Make or Break Me, Lord, is a powerful prayer for spiritual growth. I’m praying this today, and you can pray this Scripture-based prayer with me.
Today’s post is the fourth one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2021. The prompt for today is “Make,” and here is my prayer/poem.
Make or Break Me, Lord
Father God,
You have the power
to make or break me.
I stand in awe of your creative ability.
As I look over past valleys
I see where you were breaking me down
like muscle fibers break
when pushed to their limits.
But in those valleys
you were also making me stronger
as the muscle fibers of my soul
were knit back together
with stronger threads.
As I look over past peaks
I see where you were making me
more like your Son:
cultivating the fruits of the Spirit
in me as a harvest
for the benefit of many
who see your glory
reflected in me.
Today I ask again:
make
or
break
me
Lord.
Make me more like your Son
shining your light of love and peace
in this darkening world.
Break me where I need refining
sanding
shaping
polishing
and make me whole again.
Shape me like a clay pot,
breaking me down in muddy warmth
with your firm yet gentle hands
smoothing the lines up and up
as you build the height
set the shoulders
finish the lip
glazing and firing me
as I become a beautiful vessel
set apart for your glory.
