Where is God In This Mess?
Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Psalm 10:1 NIV
Where is God in this mess?
All of us are affected by crisis right now. Riots have erupted across America. Senseless acts of murder and violence have occurred. A pandemic is still taking victims and affecting all ways of life. Economies have been shaken.
People are divided, hurting, angry, confused and weary. It seems like the whole world is in chaos.
Where is God? Does he even care?

Having angry thoughts?
Want to handle them in a God-pleasing way?
Interested in learning what spiritual warfare has to do with anger?⠀
⠀
My friend and fellow author Ginger Harrington discussed this in a recent interview on her Facebook page.
Here are a few quotes on handling angry thoughts with Christian meditation from my interview:
“My anger cost me greatly. I thought it was bad, wrong, or sinful to get angry. That was a misunderstanding I had about God’s Word.”⠀
⠀
“Anger is a tool God gives us. It is like electricity or fire. Those are very good, powerful and life-giving gifts when they’re controlled. But when they’re not carefully managed and controlled, they’re horribly destructive.”⠀
⠀
“We have to learn how to control our anger through the spiritual fruit of self-control, one of the fruits of the spirit that the Holy Spirit gives us. It’s a fruit he bears in us. If we seek that from him, then we can overcome whatever anger style we have.”⠀
⠀
“I can count on one hand the people I know who grew up learning to handle anger well. This is a deficit in the American culture. We have not learned how to speak the truth in love. The heart of being self-controlled is learning to speak the truth in love.”
Join Ginger and I for a fruitful discussion that includes:
- the four underlying emotions that fuel anger⠀
- biblical examples for each one⠀
- what anger has to do with spiritual warfare⠀
- practical tips for engaging in Christian meditation to overcome
(all based on my book)⠀

How to Tame the PMS Monster
It’s that time of the month, again. Have you communicated this to your husband and/or your children?
Oh my goodness, you may be thinking. Why in the WORLD would I want to talk about premenstrual syndrome with them?!?
By talking about PMS with your loved ones, you give them the opportunity to show you extra grace while holding yourself accountable.
For the past 30 years, I’ve dealt with mild to moderate PMS symptoms. The bloating, irritability, touch-me-not feelings.
Days when only fistfuls of chocolate helped me feel better. Mood swings that tempted me to put an edge into my tone and raise my voice’s volume level over unimportant matters.
At times, PMS can make me into a monster.
Do you get me, dear wife?

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28 NLT
Jesus’ humility is a surprising and beautiful gift to us.
Think of this: The King of the World humbled himself to be human. The One who created the world endured dirt, sweat, pain, and heartache for you.
Jesus came in a time without modern conveniences, internet, phones, even electricity. He did that for you…would you do that for anyone else?

Have you heard the statistic that 70 percent of young people who grow up in the church never return once they leave home?
It’s scary to hear this. It resonates deeply with me as a mom of two teens and one tween.
But here’s the hopeful part.
Studies also show that a young person needs at least five different relationships with other adults in the church to feel connected…
Learn how YOU can minister to the next generation and why that is so important HERE on my guest post for Kingdom Edge Magazine.
