Are you dealing with loneliness today? If the statistics are accurate, probably over half of my readers are dealing with loneliness almost every day. And, I’m often in that group.
How Do You Handle Loneliness?
Our world is full of lonely people. I love 1970’s rock music–it’s probably my favorite genre. Even as a child, I was captivated by the stories and lyrics in the Beatles’ song, “Eleanor Rigby,” which talks about lonely people.
Loneliness has been a problem ever since the beginning of God’s creation, all the way back to Genesis 2. I find comfort knowing that God said that Adam being alone was “not good” even in a perfect world where sin had not yet entered the picture.
Loneliness isn’t good because God created us to be in fellowship with one another. I talk lots more about this today on a new blog post, where I have a link to the first podcast I’ve ever been on. I hope you’ll hop over to the post and listen to the podcast for more encouragement and scriptures that can help you deal with loneliness.

Prayer for Loneliness
Here’s a prayer to ease your loneliness–or if you aren’t feeling lonely today, please pray it on behalf of a lonely person in your circles.
Heavenly Father,
I praise you for creating me to need fellowship with you and others.
My loneliness reminds me that I am designed to worship you.
Help me to prioritize our relationship, Lord.
Give me the comfort I seek through my time in your word and prayers throughout my day.
My loneliness also reminds me to reach out for others.
Finding friends can be hard, God. It takes time and courage, and I’m feeling low on those.
Help me carve out the time to call someone today or have a talk with someone.
Lead me to a new friend who will encourage my faith.
But I pray that I will first find my satisfaction in your presence, then in fellowship with others.
Thank you, Lord, for using my loneliness to bring me closer to you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you are struggling with loneliness, I’m walking right beside you in this struggle. I’d be honored to pray for you. Simply send me an email on my Contact page.
