Fall 2022 Christian Book Picks
Today Is Going to Be a Good Day
I love this small, yet very powerful book. It’s ideal for morning devotions, and it’s small enough to fit in my purse to take it along with me everywhere. The positive tone in the devotions lifts me up, and I’m gleaning new insights from Michelle’s viewpoints. She’s a personal friend of mine, and such an encourager though she’s often in the trenches of life’s trials. Grateful for this book!

Food Triggers
I’m exploring the idea of intuitive eating, and this book has all kinds of ideas to help me stay on track. Many practical tips for people who are just starting out on a healthy eating journey, or need tune-up tips like me. The author addresses issues on the emotional and spiritual level, where they begin. Once you work on those, you can have more control over the food you consume. Very practical book.

This year has been the hardest one I’ve ever faced. I read this book while waiting to go to counseling appointments. It always encouraged me right where I needed it most. My real-life friend Lisa has gone through a living hell like I have, and I loved knowing I’m not alone in my suffering. Her affirmation is golden for people in crisis.

Make Up Your Mind
I’ve written two books on transforming your thought life, so this topic is near and dear to my heart. My real-life friends Denise and Michelle give new insights from two perspectives – Denise as a Bible teacher, Michelle as a Christian counselor. I learned lots of new tips for application in my own life, which are helping me choose peace in replacement for my anxiety.

The Path to Peace
I read over 100 books per year, and this is one of my favorites of 2022. What I enjoy most about this book is how each day’s devotion is broken into three engaging portions: a creative snippet of biblical fiction, the author’s personal stories, and practical application for the reader. This new format kept me engaged throughout the entire book and inspired my own writing ideas. I delighted in using this book for a morning devotional, and its convenient format is ideal for shorter attention spans or very busy readers.

The best Christian nonfiction book picks for women - Fall 2022 edition. #christianwomen #christiannonfiction #christianbooks Click To TweetSweet Relief
We all have blind spots. But if we have been Christians for a long time, our biggest blind spot may be keeping track of good deeds as if they earn us credit with God. In Sweet Relief, Kaitlin Garrison gently and humorously helps us see the truth right in front of our eyes – we all can relax and accept God’s grace instead of striving to prove our worth.

More Than Your Number
I’m so grateful for the insights the Enneagram has for my personality. It helps me understand my children and others better too. This book is unique among the other books I’ve read on the Enneagram because it affirms your personality traits according to your identity in Christ. I like how the book talks about how a wounded child version of each number will handle the highs and lows differently than someone who accepts their identity as a beloved child of God. It gives each of us something to consider on how we can use the enneagram to connect deeper with God and also grow to be more like Christ in our unique giftings. Lots of practical application at the end of each chapter.

Just Rest
Though this book is intended for young women, I gained peace from it as a middle-aged woman. Its beautiful design invites me to rest and relax as soon as I open its pages. The devotions are short and encouraging, and the book has generous space to journal your thoughts. A perfect book to help you honor the Sabbath, no matter how old you are. My personal friend Melanie has written another gem!

Book picks for fans of Christian fiction and nonfiction - Fall 2022 edition. #christianbooks #christianfiction #christiannonfiction Click To TweetWho God Wants Me to Be
My literary agent Michelle S. Lazurek is also a successful author. When she invited me to read her latest children’s book, I immediately said yes. This picture book is ideal for children, especially girls, 4 to 8 years old, right at the time when they are considering who they want to be when they grow up. The colorful illustrations are warm and engaging. The story helps children dream big while thinking about how God has gifted them in unique ways to take various paths in their future careers or service projects. It’s a beautiful gift for a child who has aspirations to do good things, and wants to know more about the plans God has for her.

Find Your People
Loneliness has been a companion of mine as long as I can remember. I always appreciate Jennie Allen’s no-nonsense approach to spiritual growth. She shares many hard-hitting statistics that helped me see how real the problems are, and also what I need to do differently. Ultra practical and convicting – one of my favorite reads of 2022.

Fall 2022 Christian book picks - which one looks best to you? #goodreads #bookrecommendation #christianbooks Click To TweetTo Bring You Back
This is Book 1 in the Rhythms of Redemption series from one of my favorite Christian fiction authors, Emily Conrad. Gannon is the front man for the band Awestruck. He reconnects with old flame Adeline in their hometown in the upper Midwest. Both characters wrestle with their faith as well as their past, including a tragedy that won’t let Adeline go. I was engaged in this story the whole time, and I was satisfied with how this book ended. It made me eager to read the other books in the series.

To Begin Again
This is Book 3 of the Rhythms of Redemption series. Philip is a band member of Gannon’s group Awestruck, and Michaela is a pop music start. He’s not really looking for new love since he’s still recovering from his wife’s untimely death, and she has family issues a mile deep. Addiction is a big player in this story. Since addiction has been a huge problem in my life too, this story resonated more deeply with me than any of the other books in the series. I was rooting for these two characters even though their problems persisted throughout the book.

To Believe in You
This is Book 4 in the Rhythms of Redemption series. Matt is in recovery from a host of bad choices, and Lina is walking through an emotional recovery of her own. She’s trying to use her leverage as the social media manager for Awestruck to help Matt get his job back, but his problems keep multiplying. I’m about halfway through this book and enjoying how the story keeps unfolding. After I finish this one, I’ll be sure to read Book 2 to have a full picture of all the band members and their significant loved ones.
