Everything Is Possible With God is an unedited prayer-poem I wrote in just five minutes. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.
Today’s post is based on the prompt for Five Minute Friday, written from 7:43 a.m. to 7:48 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2021. Today’s prompt is “Possible,” and here is my prayer/poem.
Everything Is Possible With God
O Jesus,
What comfort I take
from knowing
everything is possible
with God,
just as you prayed
in the garden
the night before
your death.
You spoke these words
to the desperate man
seeking healing
for his demon-possessed son
a hopeless situation
in those days.
He sought you out
for your healing touch
having heard about
the impossible
becoming possible
with you.
When he said “If you can”
half believing
half doubting
you answered:
Everything is possible
with God.
Then when you yourself
faced such distress
your capillaries broke
and drops of blood
ran down your face
you too
O Jesus
asked your Father
to take the cup
of suffering
because
everything
is
possible
with
God.
And yet
for the joy
set before you
you walked in the path
of suffering
for my sake
thousands of years
before I was born.
O Jesus
may I trust you today
knowing that everything
is possible in my life
in my suffering
in my grief
and that for the joy
set before me
I can choose
to suffer well
with your strong
loving
gentle
kind
tender
presence at my side.
