Forgiving What You Can’t Forget
Forgiveness is a tough assignment for a child of divorce. The pain isn’t a one-and-done thing. I believe it lasts for a lifetime. And yet, it doesn’t have to be a curse for us. We can choose freedom with God’s help.
Lysa TerKeurst knows a thing or two about forgiveness. In her book, she talks about forgiving her husband for infidelity. The back story is in her book, It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, which I’ve reviewed HERE. She is a master of self-effacement, talking about her pain and messy feelings without casting stones at others. Lysa is real, relatable and raw in this book as she is in all of her others. That’s why I was eager to read and review her new book on forgiveness.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Lysa in person at She Speaks 2018. She is a lovely woman of God, inside and out. I trust her hard-won wisdom, and though I’m only 45 pages into the book, I’m being stretched. This book will stretch you too, and help you arrive at healing.
It’s not only a book for children of divorce, or for wives whose husbands have been unfaithful. It’s an amazing book for anyone struggling with a hang-up over past hurts. In today’s podcast, I focus on the benefits of this book for adult children of divorce, but it really will help anyone struggling with unforgiveness.
