Devastation and Redemption is a prayer of worship. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.
Today’s post is the eighth one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2022. Today’s prompt is “Devastation,” and here is my prayer/poem.
Devastation and Redemption
Dearest Jesus
I worship you today
for the devastation
you endured
for me.
Betrayal and abandonment
from friends
Rejection and cruelty
from your own people
Ignorance and apathy
from the rulers
Brutality and ridicule
from the soldiers
then worst of all
separation
from your Father.
Yet this devastation
produced redemption
for me.
Just as the blood
of the lambs
provided atonement
for the people’s sins
so your innocent blood
covered all my sins
and paid the price
to buy me back
from my slavery
to unrighteousness.
And it secured
my favored place
in your presence
forever.
Remind me
of these deep truths
in my own seasons
of devastation now.
May I trust
the brokenness
is not in vain
but producing
a beautiful redemption story
only you can write.
May I know
you will never leave me
nor forsake me
when I feel devastated
by my pain.
May I believe
you are securing
a better plan
for me
not only in heaven
but in the days ahead
when hope becomes
a living reality.
