When we want to show God’s love to others, kindness is a key virtue. It’s becoming increasingly rare in our self-absorbed society, so you will stand out when you intentionally show kindness to others. You can cultivate more kindness through Christian meditation.
Verses on Kindness
Since this virtue is so important for combat against negativity and harshness, we need to meditate on God’s Word to build kindness up in our hearts. The more we focus on God’s kindness toward us, the easier it will be to show kindness to others. Even when they don’t return the favor, we can show God’s love through kindness.
These meditation verses from the NIV Bible can help you cultivate kindness:
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3
Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves. Proverbs 11:17
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25
Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. Proverbs 14:31
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
