The Best Art Kit for Moms and Daughters

I discovered Emily Lex through a devotion on Proverbs 31 Ministries, then signed up for her email list. She offers wonderful freebies each week, and I take delight in her illustrations.

Then, it was so exciting to be contacted by FrontGate Media, who asked me to review one of her packages. I knew I would love it since I have a B.F.A. in graphic design and illustration, yet never felt I had mastered watercolor. I was eager to learn.

Trying Out the Best Art Kit for Moms and Daughters

This Sunday afternoon, Lauren and I watched the videos first. They are great for beginners, and they give you good, basic steps to get started. If you are intimidated by watercolor, you won’t be any more after watching Emily’s videos.

Then, we headed out to our porch on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon to try out our flower workbooks. Lauren chose pansies and I chose the sunflower (no surprise, if you’ve been following me for some time).

Here’s a time-lapse video of what we accomplished in about 30 minutes. The simple instructions and light pencil drawings made it easy for us!

Lauren is turning 13 this summer, and she was thrilled with her results.

I was also very happy with my results, and no longer feel frustrated about using watercolor:
