How to Trust God With the Desires of Your Heart
Whether you have been married for a few months or several decades, I know you have desires in your heart that your husband can’t meet. This is one of the shocking truths you learn about marriage: no one can fulfill all your desires. Except God.
I came into my marriage as a needy mess. Since I had lived with loneliness for a long time in my childhood, I naively expected my husband to serve as the human cure for my companionship desire. Only two weeks after our wedding, my sky-high expectations were dashed. Loneliness came rushing back in, and in some ways, it felt more painful because I was married.
It took years for God to teach me that my husband could not fulfill all my needs…

How to Find Peace Between a Rock and a Hard Place
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.
Psalm 130:5
A place down inside a dusty cavern, where nourishing light and refreshing water are in short supply. I can’t get out of this situation without painful consequences.
If I stay put, I’m uncomfortable. But if I move downward, I’m further stuck, and if I try to climb up, I may get wounded. I’m between a rock and hard place, and the enemy Satan is trying to steal my peace there.
However, I am finding peace in this hard situation with God’s help. Here are four ways I’m finding peace inside the problem…
How to Face Life Changes With Greater Faith
What life changes are facing you now?
The life changes I’m facing are pretty big right now. My children returned to school this week, and I miss them after being at home with them all summer. This switch means I have full-time puppy duty, which is delightful yet draining. Also, I’m gearing up for my own book to launch in the coming weeks.
When life changes hit me hard, I can juggle them okay during the daytime. But at night, my dreams are wild and frantic. My brain just won’t settle down, and I often wake up against my will.
Don’t you wish that you could press a button on your body and go right to sleep? As overtired as I was last night, I couldn’t force myself to go to sleep. So frustrating. But I decided to meditate on Scripture, like I usually do when I have insomnia.
This is the scripture that came to my mind somewhere south of 1:00 a.m., from the recesses of my Christian school girl memory bank…
By meditating on God's Word, you can face life changes with greater faith. #christianmeditation Click To TweetWhich Harvest Fields Are Yours?
Have you ever considered which people God wants you to reach? Several months ago, my small group and I conversed over this topic. We talked about the groups of people we feel most comfortable serving, which ones challenge us the most, and why. Our answers led into interesting stories about what God was doing through each of us.
The Importance of Harvest Fields
Recently I meditated on today’s scripture of Matthew 9:37-38. I’ve been thinking about the types of fields God has prepared especially for me. You can pray over this scripture to ask God which fields He has prepared for you.
As Christians, we are called to work for God’s glory, sharing the good news with others. God sends each of us to particular groups of people for specific purposes. It’s helpful to consider exactly which “fields” are best for you, so you can focus your efforts of ministry and evangelism…
