A Writer’s Prayer of Thanks is my song of thanksgiving for God’s call on my life to be a writer. I pray it will encourage you in your own writing journey.
A Writer’s Prayer of Thanks
O Word of Life,
Thank you for the gift of language, both spoken and written.
Through giving me this gift, you have set me apart from the rest of creation.
What a joy it is to reflect your image in this fashion.
O Wise One,
Thank you for giving me the ability to read and write.
Not everyone in history has enjoyed this privilege.
It is a gift I often take for granted, but today I choose to praise you for it.
O Great Provider,
Thank you for every tool I use to write.
Whether it be paper and pen, computer or mouse, software or hardware, you provide it for me.
You equip me with so many ways to record my thoughts.
O Lord Most High,
What an amazing honor to live in the age of the Internet, when my words can be read by everyone around the world.
This is the greatest privilege of my generation, and though it is easy to use, it requires much wisdom and discernment.
Thank you for availing this enormous responsibility to me, through which I can powerfully conduct your kingdom work.
O Author of Life,
Thank you for calling me to write for your glory.
What an honor it is to string words together that encourage, instruct, inspire and challenge others.
I pray you will guide the words I speak and write, that others may be lifted up through them.
O Loving Shepherd,
Thank you for every person who has been moved by my words.
Bless all those who will never let me know how much my words have meant to them.
Grant a special blessing to those who have been so kind as to tell me my writing helped them.
O Alpha and Omega,
I praise and thank you for your unchanging Word that transcends all time.
The words I write and speak will someday pass away like the flowers of the field.
Yet your glorious Word will stand forever. Hallelujah!
