A Creative Method of Christian Service You Can Do at Home

Here’s a creative method of Christian service you can do at home you might not have considered before, plus opportunities for you to serve now!

A Creative Method of Christian Service You Can Do at Home

I remember when the book Purpose-Driven Life was the “it” book in church.

I learned so many great things from it, especially about Christian service.

It taught me that serving in church wasn’t really an option – it was a requirement. Yet the book affirmed my giftings and areas where service made sense for them.

At the time, I had never joined a book launch. That didn’t begin until around 2015. Since then, I’ve participated on hundreds of launch teams, and now I’m a book launch manager for over 30 books.

As an author of seven books, please hear me out as I explain why serving on a launch team is a creative method of Christian service you can do from home:

1) Amazon reviews make or break a book. An author needs to get to certain thresholds of reviews on Amazon so that Amazon will organically put the book in front of more potential customers’ eyes and start selling itself. Your two or three minutes of leaving a review helps more people see Christian books that edify spiritual growth. It also helps the author sell more copies of all subsequent books he or she writes. I posit that your Amazon review is worth even more to the author’s career and influence than the actual book purchase.

2) As a launch team member, you are asked to share graphics about the book on social media. By sharing, you reach people that the author cannot reach in his or her own circles. You spread the message further and wider so more people can learn about the book and benefit from it. One example – a missionary in Guatemala saw a post one of my launch team members shared about my book, and ordered it for her Sunday school class. That wouldn’t have been possible through my own social media following – what a gift!

Here’s the great news – if you are not currently involved in serving a local church (which I highly recommend, by the way), you can participate on a launch team and still be serving. It’s also good news if you are homebound for a season.

Right now I’m running two launch teams – one for a fiction book, and one for a non-fiction book. I have several more launches coming up in June/July, and they would be great ways for you to serve!
